Mougins has always attracted prestigious chefs: Mr. Chardonnier was one of the prestigious chefs at the PAX Hotel after the War. Mr. Girard, who founded La MUSARDE was a student of the famed Escoffier. Madame Donot, of the Hôtel de France (today, "Au Rendez-Vous de Mougins"), prepared ultra-refined cuisine, woman's cuisine as she liked to say. In 1969, when Roger VERGE came to MOUGINS, the commune had only 7 restaurants,
today, it has about fifty. |
The main dinner for the 50th Film Festival in CANNES, organized for the benefit of medical research against AIDS, was held at LE MOULIN DE MOUGINS. With Demi Moore as guest of honour, this dinner organized by AMFAR and attended by many international stars cost 2,500 dollars (approximately FF 12,000) per person.

ECOLE DE CUISINE DU SOLEIL (Cooking School in the Sun) offers 2-hour classes at L'AMANDIER restaurant. Seated at little bistrot-style tables, the would-be gourmet cooks take notes, ask questions and participate before sampling. Roger VERGE and his chef have prepared a program that changes every day, according to what's available at the market. |
